Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopaedic Casting Specialist to join our team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced casting professional to work in our busy outpatient department, caring for patients with a wide range of orthopaedic conditions and fractures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for direct clinical care, supervising junior staff, and teaching qualified and unqualified staff. A key requirement is holding an up-to-date BOA casting certificate and having experience in an outpatient setting or similar environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Applying a wide range of casts, including gypsona, light weight synthetic, and soft cast
  • Using Plaster saw for safe cast removal
  • Applying braces and splints
  • Working closely with consultants and team members
  • Attending Theatres and wards to apply and remove casts as needed
  • Facilitating and chaperoning in clinics as required

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • BOA certificate holder
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritise own workloads
