Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Patient Portal Solutions Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in analysing and improving electronic systems used in healthcare settings to manage patient information.

The Patient Portal Solutions Specialist will be responsible for specialising within the Patient Electronic Health Record (MEDITECH Expanse) and working on various projects to enhance system functionality, optimise processes, and integrate with other healthcare systems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Discovery and Mobilisation Phase:
    • Gather and document business requirements for patient electronic systems by collaborating with stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, IT teams, and system users.
    • Analyse existing patient electronic systems to identify areas for improvement, such as functionality enhancements, process optimisation, and integration with other healthcare systems.
    • Facilitate change management activities to ensure smooth transitions during system upgrades, enhancements, or implementations.
  • Standard Content Build Phase:
    • Collaborate with developers, project managers, and system administrators to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in patient electronic systems, and recommend enhancements to improve system efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Understand the architecture and integration processes for patient electronic systems, collaborating with technical teams to design and build technical components that meet the business requirements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security and finance, to understand integration requirements and ensure quality and consistency in integration processes.
  • Implementation and Stabilisation Phase:
    • Create detailed system documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and training materials, to support system implementation and user adoption.
    • Develop and execute test plans to validate system functionality, identify and resolve defects, and ensure the system meets quality standards.
    • Analyse system data to identify trends, generate reports, and provide insights that support operational decision-making and process improvement.
    • Provide training and support to end-users, including healthcare professionals and administrative staff, to ensure smooth system adoption and effective use.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience of working with Electronic Healthcare Records (e.g. MEDITECH, Cerner, EPIC).
  • Demonstrable experience working on clinical systems, including system analysis, design, integration, and security.
  • Self-starter with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedicated to accuracy, precision, and diligence, capable of thriving in both independent and collaborative settings.
  • Possess strong analytic and technical skills and the ability to translate complicated data into usable information.
  • Confident contributing to system architecture and technical documentation and working through integration problems.
  • Experience with People Change Management techniques (e.g. ProSci) with the ability to influence others at all levels of the organisation.
  • Willingness to prepare, deliver, present, and facilitate training to a range of different audiences, ensuring a seamless transition.
  • Any programming experience, including SQL, would be advantageous but not required.

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits package.
