Job Title: Senior Analytical Chemist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join our team at Hudson Shribman. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing extraction techniques to support our plant and food chemistry workstreams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize extraction methods to achieve target specifications
  • Utilize high-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) techniques
  • Work at scale to support large-scale production
  • Develop methods to ensure manufacturing consistency and quality standards
  • Build a robust patent portfolio from a process and extract composition perspective
  • Verify sample specifications for consumer research and ageing studies
  • Develop methods to enhance process environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics
  • Manage stock and analytical data, and closely monitor emerging extraction technologies and potential external partners
Requirements:
  • PhD in chemistry or a related field with a strong background in natural product research
  • Extensive hands-on experience in various extraction technologies, including solvent extraction and SFE
  • Strong knowledge of detection methods, including LC/MS and HP-TLC
  • Good knowledge of chromatography science, including thin layer chromatography, SFC, liquid chromatography (LC), gas chromatography (GC), and spectrophotometry techniques
  • Hands-on experience in standard lab testing, including density and pH measurements
  • Proven strategic thinking, analytical skills, and ability to influence long-term project success
  • Successful collaboration among diverse cultures, good initiative, and independent thinking, effective communication, briefing, and presentation skills
  • Resilient, flexible, and confident to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment
