Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate to join our team at Victim Support. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support and advocacy services to victims of domestic and sexual abuse, working closely with our established IDVA team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement effective ways of working with victims to increase safety and reduce harm
- Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic and sexual abuse
- Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic and sexual abuse
- Run group training sessions and share your specialist knowledge with acute staff across the hospital
Requirements:
- Knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic and sexual abuse
- Understanding of domestic and sexual abuse and its impact
- Knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management
- Understanding of safeguarding issues and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues
- Experience of direct service delivery to vulnerable people
- Good communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, both written and verbal, able to interact with a range of agencies and individuals
- Strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations
