About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Graduate Systems Engineer to join our team at UK Research and Innovation. As a Graduate Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of our scientific instruments, working closely with our international team to design, develop, and test complex systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out functional analyses of systems to identify requirements and develop technical solutions.
  • Capture and manage requirements to ensure that our systems meet the needs of our users.
  • Identify and define interfaces between systems to ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop technical budgets and plans to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Carry out engineering analyses to ensure that our systems are safe and reliable.
  • Design and develop system architectures for complex scientific instruments, working closely with our international team.
  • Define and plan tests to ensure that our systems meet the required standards.
  • Carry out verification activities to ensure that our systems are functioning as expected.
  • Contribute to the development of comprehensive documentation and reports to support our projects.
Requirements
  • Achieved, or be on course to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK at the time of starting employment.
  • Excellent communication and social skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good team worker, but able to work independently when needed and ask for help when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Proven experience in scripting and/or modelling.
  • Attention to detail, but with the ability to take the big picture view.
  • Future development potential.
