About the Role

To spearhead Cornwall Airport Newquay's commercial strategy and pipeline, focusing on future aerospace and launch related activities. Develop a space-related property and consultancy cluster, stimulating and developing air and space activities locally and regionally.

This role is responsible for the airport's senior leadership team, delivering on the vision to leverage Cornwall's unique opportunity to lead UK Space activity. Develop strategies and visions aligned with local businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies, ensuring funding opportunities are maximized.

Engage regularly with multiple stakeholders, keeping Spaceport Cornwall at the forefront of the mind and on the global stage. This requires someone who can get things done, be creative, innovative, and tenacious in their approach.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and delivering Spaceport Cornwall's future air and space strategy
  • Influencing local, regional, and national policies and legislation to support the Spaceport strategy
  • Integrating the Spaceport strategy with local and national government policies, identifying and securing funding opportunities
  • Implementing, maintaining, and reporting the sales pipeline for future air and space opportunities and projects

A strong understanding of government strategy is required, sourcing funding calls, writing bids and grant proposals alongside the team. Developing partnerships and cultivating commercial relationships will drive business growth.

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, managing and inspiring a team to deliver results. Effective communication with stakeholders and industry executives is crucial, representing the company externally at networking events and conferences.
