Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated social worker to join our integrated Looked After Children service. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with children and young people between the ages of 0-18, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hold a caseload of children and young people, providing assessment, care planning, and permanency planning services.
  • Work closely with family law care proceedings, ensuring that children's needs are met and their rights are protected.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external agencies to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Progress work within the statutory framework for Looked After Children, including ensuring Looked After Children Reviews, Personal Education Planning Meetings, and Looked After Children Medicals are completed within statutory timescales.
  • Work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, taking part in age assessments and providing support to help them navigate the system.
Requirements
  • Good experience of working in children's social care, with some experience in working with family law care proceedings.
  • Good working knowledge of the legislative framework relating to children, particularly the Children Act 1989 and all legislation related to looked after children and Children in Need.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, young people, and their families.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office packages and other relevant software.
