About the Role

At National Physical Laboratory, we are seeking an experienced Senior RAN Systems Integration Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide expert support to our networks and services, ensuring that our mission-critical capabilities remain of the highest quality.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of vendor hardware and environments, collaborating with operational IT functions to deliver robust and secure solutions to our stakeholders. Continual professional development and knowledge sharing are essential in this role.

The successful applicant must be able to commute to our offices in Solihull, Birmingham, with the possibility of hybrid working arrangements.

About You

To excel in this position, you will bring extensive experience in 4G/LTE, 5G RAN & O-RAN testing, as well as solid knowledge of 4/5G Radio Access Network technology. You will have:

  • A strong understanding of networking protocols like IP, TCP, SCTP, and IPSEC.
  • An understanding of 3GPP standards, including procedures, call flows, KPIs, and statistics.
  • Experience with end-to-end testing, covering IMS calls and analyzing layer 2 & 3 messages, RRC/RLC Layers.
  • The ability to analyze and diagnose RF issues like dropped calls, blocked calls, handover failures, interference, and RACH failures.
  • A good understanding of core network elements and experience working with Nokia and Ericsson RAN systems.

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
