Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in London. As a key member of our Operational Engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Work on a varied portfolio of projects, both in the UK and internationally, providing technical advice to clients on the operation of mechanical/electrical engineering services in existing buildings.
- Prepare fee proposals, deliver refurbishment and upgrade projects from inception to completion, and undertake condition surveys of mechanical/electrical installations.
- Develop and produce mechanical designs and specifications, ensuring quality and technical standards are met.
- Produce feasibility studies for mechanical/electrical infrastructure replacement or upgrade, and undertake technical due diligence reporting.
- Ensure all work is undertaken to relevant and applicable UK and EU regulations, design guides, etc.
- Review development and fitout proposals, advising clients on the implications in relation to mechanical/electrical services.
- Lead mechanical services design on large projects and lead overall MEP on small to medium-sized projects within the office.
- Responsible for dealing successfully with clients and other professionals, and aware of consultant appointment conditions.
- Define and agree briefs with clients, and competently represent our client at project meetings.
- Manage and prioritize the workload of a project team, including specialist groups, and host and chair internal project team meetings.
- Contribute to the professional development of individual team members, and actively lead self and identify opportunities for career development.
- Ensure quality standards and technical accuracy are delivered, and report cost and resource requirements to the team leader on a regular basis.
- Excellent technical knowledge in mechanical design engineering, with a thorough understanding of building services engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.
- Good experience in the use of standards and codes applied in building services, and the ability to undertake MEP building services surveys with minimal supervision.
- Ability to peer review in detail, with a good level of background knowledge of regulatory/standards documentation.
- Acquainted with and able to deliver parallel projects of all types, sizes, and through various RIBA stages.
- Can undertake essential calculations, maximum demands, typical W/m2, and apply mechanical theory.
- At least some experience working on projects in existing buildings, and experience of undertaking site inspections and commissioning witnessing.
- Ability to develop good relationships with clients, project managers, managing agents, and contractors.
- Previous consultancy experience, with an appreciation of the importance of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modeling in the design of buildings.
- Autonomous approach, able to lead small to medium-sized projects, and able to take a brief from the project lead on large projects and deliver & control the tasks required.
- Responsible for the quality of our outputs, and an appreciation of client needs, with the ability to face clients.
- Ability to identify when outsourcing is required, e.g., design & CAD work, and understand and identify resource needs.
- Mentor and supervise junior members of staff, and a Chartered engineer or close to.
