About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Minor Injuries Practitioner to join our dynamic and supportive team within the Minor Injuries Unit at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will have at least 2 years' experience of working in emergency and/or minor injury and/or ailment care, with a strong background in assessing, treating, referring or safely discharging patients.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will be responsible for working within the Minor Injuries Unit, assessing patients, providing treatment, and referring or discharging them as necessary.
You will also be required to work under pressure in a physically and psychologically demanding role, with the ability to analyse situations and provide a resolution.
Main Responsibilities
- To work as an autonomous practitioner within the Minor Injuries Unit
- To assess, treat, refer or discharge any patient attending the Minor Injuries Unit
- To recognise and take appropriate actions in an emergency situation
- To take clinical responsibility for patients, carers, students and other junior health professionals
- To be able to provide health promotion to patients
- Maintain a high quality of care for all patients attending the unit
- Facilitate access of patients into secondary or community care settings as appropriate

Person Specification
- At least 2 years' experience of working in emergency and/or minor injury and/or ailment care
- Recent previous experience of working within a customer-focused environment
- Previous experience of working with a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to undertake physical examination in order to diagnose previously undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Registered Nurse/Emergency Care Practitioner/AHP qualification in Specialist field to degree/diploma level
- Teaching skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children
