Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to take on a leadership role in our innovative pharmacy department. As a Lead Pharmacy Technician Medicines Management, you will play a key part in promoting a safety-first culture within the pharmacy department and across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate medication-related incidents and assist with controlled drug monitoring
  • Participate in audits and contribute to national and local safety initiatives
  • Provide medicines safety training for pharmacy, nursing, and medical staff
  • Support the management of the pharmacy risk register and contribute to safety meetings
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • BTEC in pharmaceutical sciences plus NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy practice or other recognised pharmacy technician qualification
  • Accredited Checking Technician qualification from a nationally recognised body or a willingness to undertake the training
  • Medicines Management Technician accreditation from a nationally recognised body
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in an NHS Hospital, of which a minimum of 2 years experience at Band 5, or above
  • Experience of training, mentoring and appraising staff
  • Experience investigating incidents and promoting patient safety initiatives
  • Experience of implementing medicines safety initiatives
