About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Nurse Specialist to join our team at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. As a key member of the Acute Oncology Multidisciplinary Team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our acute services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the Cancer Clinical CNS team to develop and deliver acute services across organisational, professional, and geographical boundaries.
  • Provide expert nursing care to patients with cancer, including breaking bad news and supporting patients and their families.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and creative ideas to improve patient care and working practices.
  • Work closely with key areas of the Trust, including the Medical and Cancer Teams, and the Specialist Palliative Care team.
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse/Practitioner with live NMC registration.
  • Cancer care training and knowledge.
  • Formal qualification or relevant cancer or counselling experience.
  • Competent in dealing with breaking bad news to patients and relatives.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of local and national cancer standards, policies, and guidance.
  • Competent in specialist area, nursing/clinical care, and life support to BLS standard.
