About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Nurse to join our team as a Deputy Acute Oncology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist or Practitioner. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver acute services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as a key member of the Acute Oncology Multidisciplinary Team(s) to provide high-quality patient care and support.
  • Develop and deliver acute services across organisational, professional and geographical boundaries.
  • Collaborate with the AOS Cancer CNS(s) to cover for the CNS team in times of annual leave and sickness.
  • Forge close working relationships with key areas of the Trust, including the Trust interventional consultants, visiting consultants from the Cancer Centres, the Medical and Cancer Teams and the Specialist Palliative Care team.
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse / Practitioner with live NMC / other registration.
  • Cancer care training/knowledge.
  • Formal qualification or through relevant cancer or counselling experience.
  • Competent in dealing with breaking of significant news to patients and relatives.
  • Advanced knowledge and a clear understanding of local and national cancer standards, policies and guidance.
  • Competent in specialist area, nursing / clinical care and life support to BLS standard.
  • Able to critically analyse and offer innovative and creative ideas to improve patient care/working practices.
