Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Stroke Medicine to join our team at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our Comprehensive Stroke Service, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our stroke service.

About the Role

This is a 10 PA post in the Comprehensive Stroke Service, and we are looking for someone comprehensively trained in stroke medicine. The calibre of the applicant is more important than their base specialty, and we are open to candidates from various backgrounds.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as participate in clinical and service activities to ensure a high standard of patient care. You will also be expected to contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-patient and out-patient care for patients referred with suspected stroke or TIA
  • Contribute to the provision of a 24-hour acute stroke specialist service delivering thrombolysis and other specialist treatments
  • Contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development
  • Participate in clinical and service activities to ensure a high standard of patient care
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • MRCP
  • Experience in the management of stroke patients/older people
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients
  • IT skills and computer literacy
  • Independent thrombolysis practitioner
