About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Continuous Improvement Manager to lead and drive our efforts in enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness at GBS Global Applied Knowledge. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, with a strong emphasis on light touch approaches (such as Lean, Agile, and Kaizen). Experience in higher education is essential, as the role will involve working closely with academic and administrative departments to foster a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design and Execute Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Develop and implement comprehensive continuous improvement plans, programs, and initiatives in line with the company strategy and goals.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify areas of improvement, streamline processes, systems, and enhance efficiency across departments.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement Methodologies: Apply light touch methodologies such as Lean, Agile, or Kaizen to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and improve service delivery.
  • Develop and Implement Process Improvements: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement process improvements that enhance the student and employee experience.
  • Facilitate Meetings and Workshops: Facilitate meetings, workshops, and collaborative discussions to encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and Report on Success: Monitor and report on the success and outcomes of improvement initiatives.
  • Assess and Provide Feedback: Regularly assess the impact of continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback to stakeholders.
  • Document Continuous Improvement Activities: Create and maintain documentation of all continuous improvement activities, including progress reports and case studies.
  • Advocate for Best Practices: Advocate for and implement best practices in continuous improvement within the higher education context.
  • Mentor and Support Staff: Mentor and support staff in developing their own continuous improvement skills and knowledge.
  • Promote a Positive Environment: Promote a positive and collaborative environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
  • Apply Project Management Methodologies: Apply project management methodologies to ensure structured and effective implementation of improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate Project Status: Communicate project status, challenges, and successes to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage Operational Performance: Day-to-day management of operational performance across the team, including assigning and managing work effectively, utilizing individuals' appropriate strengths, and conducting regular 121s with team members.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in higher education.
  • Champion Quality: Ensure the team maintains a quality campus experience through the delivery of a highly student-focused continuous improvement support.
  • Handle Confidential Information: Ensure the team applies sensitivity and discretion when dealing with confidential information and confidently refer more complex issues to specialist staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Organisational Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 Years Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in continuous improvement, with a focus on light touch methodologies.
  • Proven Experience in Higher Education: Proven experience working in higher education or a similar environment.
  • Strong Track Record: Strong track record of leading successful continuous improvement initiatives that have resulted in measurable gains.
  • Expertise in Continuous Improvement Methodologies: Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies (such as Lean, Agile, Kaizen, or Six Sigma).
  • Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in Project Management: Experience in project management, including leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong Analytical, Data Interpretation, and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good Understanding of Microsoft Systems: Good understanding of Microsoft systems and excellent general IT competence.
  • Ability to Work to Set KPIs and Service Level Agreements: Ability to work to set KPIs and Service Level Agreements.
