Job Responsibilities

  • To assist therapists and senior therapy assistants in delivering high-quality patient care through a range of therapy techniques, including access visits, stair assessments, and treatment sessions.
  • To undertake patient treatments as delegated by the therapist, following a treatment plan, and provide feedback on patient progress to the therapist.
  • To supervise patients during individual or group treatments, ensuring they receive high-quality care and support.
  • To assist with moving and handling complex, high-risk patients, adhering to patient risk assessments.
  • To instruct patients and carers on treatment programs, providing guidance on progression and health promotion.
  • To document patient contacts, maintain accurate records, and contribute to monthly statistics, aligning with Trust, CSP, and service standards.
  • To communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other stakeholders, using verbal and non-verbal communication tools, particularly when dealing with patients with barriers to understanding or communicating.

Requirements

  • A good general education, typically GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Theoretical and practical training to NVQ II Level or equivalent experience in communication skills, administrative tasks, and Health & Safety awareness.
  • Experience interacting with the public or patients, demonstrating communication skills, prioritization, and an organized approach to work.
  • Understanding of working with patients in a therapeutic role and knowledge of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy principles.
