About the Role
Birmingham Airport is a leading UK airport, serving over 120 destinations and aiming to become a net zero carbon airport by 2033. As an Aviation Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our passengers and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen personnel via body searches and bag searches to ensure compliance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standards.
- Operate X-Ray screening equipment using 3D technology to detect prohibited items.
- Control access to restricted areas, verifying identification and boarding cards.
- Respond to emergency situations, including aircraft emergencies and security incidents.
- Conduct patrols and escort duties, including special events.
- Provide proactive communication to ensure all personnel are prepared for security screening.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to passengers.
- Comply with Aviation Security local operating procedures, working practices, and protocols.
- Participate in training, including computer-based training and mandatory security training.
- Meet compliance and throughput targets set by the DfT, CAA, and Security Management Team.
Requirements
- Full colour vision.
- Ability to work varying shift times, including early starts and late finishes.
- Ability to provide a 5-year checkable history of work/education and obtain a satisfactory criminal record check and counter-terrorism clearance.
- Physical ability to undertake mandatory duties, including body searches, bag searches, and patrols.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in a customer service role and exceptional customer service skills.
- Enthusiasm, a can-do attitude, and proactive approach to work.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
- Remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
