About MI5

MI5 is responsible for keeping the country safe from serious threats like terrorism and attempts by states to harm the UK, its people and way of life. We carry out investigations by obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence, and then work with a range of partners, including MI6 and GCHQ to disrupt these threats.

The Role

As a Vetting Officer at MI5, you'll manage risks that might make our work vulnerable and identify individuals who could pose a threat to national security. This is a critical role that requires a high level of security clearance, known as Developed Vetting (DV).

Training and Development

Our 13-month Development Programme is designed to give you all the training and support you need to become a fully qualified Vetting Officer. You'll attend regular training sessions and workshops to further your knowledge and skills.
