Job Description

The role of Category Development Manager at a global food industry leader is pivotal in driving growth in international markets, particularly in Northern Europe's emerging distributor markets. As a key member of the team, you will spearhead the category and shopper marketing strategy across Northern European distributor markets.

This involves bridging category management, shopper insights, and trade marketing to deliver distribution and visibility growth. Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing category strategies utilizing consumer and shopper insights to capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Defining and executing assortment strategies, identifying distribution gaps, and tracking performance to ensure optimal portfolio coverage.
  • Developing in-store merchandising principles and creating point-of-sale (POS) toolkits to support distributor activations and enhance brand presence throughout the shopper journey.
  • Leading market-specific targets for new product introductions, aligning with brand teams, finance, and market managers.
  • Providing insights to shape pricing strategies and promotional activities, ensuring alignment with local market dynamics and overall business goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

We're seeking a strategic and hands-on professional with:
  • At least 3 years of experience in a category or trade marketing role within an FMCG or multinational environment.
  • Proficiency in category tools like Nielsen and a deep understanding of sales fundamentals and market dynamics.
  • Commercial acumen to connect category management with broader business objectives, driving long-term growth.
  • Adaptability and initiative to address challenges and work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Strong communication skills with fluent English and excellent interpersonal and presentation abilities.
