Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Organic Synthetic Chemist to join our technical team based at our site in Greater Manchester. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of new products using organic synthetic methods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the NPD team with delivering development projects, including neutralization, oxidation, sulphonation, esterification, and phosphation.
  • Assist in daily analysis tasks including wet chemistry titrations and various instrumental techniques such as FTIR, UV Spectroscopy, HPLC and GC analysis.
  • Support in method development, validation, calibration and maintenance of a range of techniques including HPLC and GC.
  • General laboratory maintenance, stock control and ordering.
  • Write and update extensive technical reports for development work.
  • Organise, support and conduct plant trials and scale-up processes.
  • Actively communicate with the sales team and external customers regarding development projects.
  • Support QC team with routine QC analysis as and when required.

Requirements:
  • Degree in Chemistry (or similar).
  • Proven industrial experience of organic chemistry.
  • Strong analytical skills including HPLC and GC.
  • Method development, calibration and maintenance experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
