Cafe Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cafe Manager to join our team at Luminary Bakery. As a Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our cafe, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and that our products meet the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise a team of cafe staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are equipped to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and revenue growth, including menu planning, pricing, and promotions.
  • Monitor and control costs, including inventory management, labor costs, and waste reduction.
  • Ensure that all cafe operations are in compliance with health and safety regulations, and that our cafe maintains a 5-star rating.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to promote our cafe and products, and to identify opportunities for growth and development.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for merchandising, stocking, restocking, rotating, and storing of products and supplies.
  • Ensure that the cafe meets regulation requirements and high cleanliness standards.
  • Provide training and supervision to apprentices from the Luminary Programme, and support their development and growth.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years' experience in the food industry, ideally in an artisan coffee or cafe environment.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, staff, and suppliers.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and make informed decisions to drive business growth.
  • Strong technical ability to operate POS systems, scheduling software, and G-Suite.
  • Experience running or supervising a coffee or food service business.
