About the Opportunity

This role involves working across various departments at Sheridans, including a 5-6 month seat and potential future cover for a job share in the Disputes department.

The successful candidate will provide top-quality support to fee earners in their absence, and may also assist the Reception team during times of absence and sickness.

We are looking for an individual with the initiative, common sense, and willingness to learn, who can provide good cover in a legal environment, particularly in corporate, litigation, and property sectors.

Experience as a float PA, secretary, or PA for senior partners is desired, and familiarity with GDPR and confidentiality demands is essential.

Responsibilities
  1. Typing and amending correspondence and documents as required.
  2. Thoroughly checking and acting upon emails.
  3. Diary management, including arranging client meetings and lunches.
  4. Organising travel and itineraries.
  5. Using ChromeRiver to claim fee earner expenses.
  6. Processing dictation in a timely fashion.
  7. Organising and scanning documents into the document management system.
  8. Initiating and completing the setting up of new clients.
  9. Preparation and coordination of billing and accounting tasks.
  10. Litigation work - preparation of all forms, documents, and bundles involved in court-related work.
  11. Property work - preparation of all forms, correspondence, searches, and documents involved in property-related transactions.
  12. Working closely with other departmental PAs and business support departments.
  13. Undertaking relevant handover of work, using clear communication and instructions.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated high-level experience as a float PA, secretary, or PA for senior partners in a legal environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to adapt swiftly to the pace and culture of each department.
  • Appreciation of fee earner frustrations and needs.
  • Proactive and motivated to seek work and be helpful.
  • Familiarity with GDPR and proven ability to adhere to confidentiality demands.
  • Highly responsible, professional, and forward-thinking attitude.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with good judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels.
