Job Description

Job Title: Private Client Solicitor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven Private Client Solicitor to join our team at Liberty Towers. As a Private Client Solicitor, you will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of private client matters, including wills, probate, estate planning, lasting powers of attorney, trusts, and inheritance tax planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of private client matters: You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of private client matters, including wills, probate, estate planning, lasting powers of attorney, trusts, and inheritance tax planning.
  • Provide high-quality legal advice: You will provide high-quality legal advice to individuals, families, and trustees on all aspects of private client work.
  • Draft and review legal documents: You will draft and review legal documents such as wills, trust deeds, and probate applications.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations: You will ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
  • Maintain client relationships: You will maintain and build strong client relationships, providing excellent customer service.
  • Assist with estate administration: You will assist with the administration of estates, including obtaining grants of probate and dealing with HMRC inheritance tax issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues: You will work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to provide a comprehensive service to clients.
  • Attend client meetings: You will attend client meetings and contribute to business development activities within the firm.

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor: You must be a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
  • Experience in private client work: You must have experience in private client work, gained during training or post-qualification.
  • Drafting and organisational skills: You must have strong drafting and organisational skills with an eye for detail.
  • Communication skills: You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Caseload management: You must be able to manage a varied caseload and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Client-focused approach: You must have a client-focused approach with the ability to provide compassionate and tailored advice.
  • Technology skills: You must be familiar with the use of case management systems and a willingness to adopt new technology.

Desirable:

  • STEP qualification: A STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) qualification or working towards STEP accreditation is desirable.
  • Tax planning and trust administration: Knowledge of tax planning and trust administration is desirable.
  • Contentious probate matters: Experience in contentious probate matters is desirable.
