Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Agricultural Consultant to join our team in Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert technical and business consultancy services to customers throughout the region.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, mentor and develop a team of local consultants and technicians to ensure customer delivery success and develop their skills and careers.
  • Financial responsibility for the performance of your team and workflow management.
  • Provide technical, business, specialist expertise and financial consultancy services to customers and their farming businesses.
  • Identify solutions for customers adapting to changes in regulation, Government policy and evolving markets.
  • Win and deliver new business by introducing customers to suitable consulting services.
  • BUILD relationships with key staff in organisations with rural interests.
  • FACILITATE content and events for the Farm Advisory Service (FAS).
  • Contribute to writing and devising technical content for press and newsletter articles, case studies and podcasts.
  • PROVIDE training and insight for others within SAC Consulting.
Requirements
  • Educated to SCQF Level 8 or equivalent in a related subject (Biological or Agricultural) or equivalent experience.
  • BASIS, FACTS, and FBAAS desirable qualifications.
  • Experience working in the rural sector; awareness of challenges faced by agricultural businesses beneficial.
  • Broad knowledge of many farming enterprises and systems with deeper level of knowledge in a specific area of interest.
  • Strong people development and management skills and high level of confidence in working across teams and projects.
  • Able to drive own success while working as part of a team.
  • Courage to give advice.
  • Commercial awareness of value of expertise and ability to use team around you to get best result for customer.
  • Effective use of IT, Team Player, Analytical thinking, self-motivated, project management.
  • Significant proven previous consultancy experience.
  • Good awareness and understanding of agricultural frameworks and funding.
  • Proven effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full driving licence and own transport.
