Dovetail and Slate Limited is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Plumbing Instructor to join their team at the brand-new Newcastle Training Centre. As a Lead Plumbing Instructor, you will lead a team of instructors, developing and delivering high-quality training programs that meet the needs of apprentices and employers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for Level 3 courses in plumbing and gas standards.
- Lead a team of instructors, providing coaching, mentoring, and support to ensure they meet the required standards.
- Assess and provide constructive feedback on apprentices' coursework, ensuring they meet the required standards.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and progress, implementing interventions to ensure timely achievement.
- Manage materials and equipment for workshops and teaching activities, ensuring they are safe and fit for purpose.
- Ensure the welfare and safety of apprentices during training sessions, maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Liaise with internal and external inspection bodies (e.g., Ofsted), responding promptly to requests.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to apprentices, promoting their development and readiness for assessments.
- Communicate effectively with employers and other stakeholders, providing regular updates on apprentices' progress.
- Maintain accurate administrative records and stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices through CPD activities.
Person Specification:
- Essential Criteria:
- Level 3 qualification in Plumbing (NVQ3 or equivalent).
- Current Gas ACS certification and Unvented Hot Water qualification.
- Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards).
- Proficiency in Maths and English at Level 2 or above.
- Demonstrated occupational competence in the plumbing and gas industry.
- Strong IT skills and a self-motivated, adaptable approach to work.
- Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and end-point assessments.
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely).
- Assessor or Internal Verifier qualifications (or willingness to achieve them).
As a Lead Plumbing Instructor, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the development of apprentices and the plumbing and gas industry as a whole. You'll be part of a collaborative team that values innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
**Estimated Salary:** Up to £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
