About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Supervisor to join our Physico Chemical Testing team at our Eye site in Suffolk. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of technicians and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratories.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the day-to-day running of the laboratories and work closely with the Team Leader to organize staff workloads.
  2. Set up and perform various studies using appropriate instrumentation, including routine and non-routine methods.
  3. Critically review study protocols and suggest changes where necessary.
  4. Participate in study meetings and provide input on study design and execution.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed study documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  6. Deliver results within agreed timeframes, adapting to changes in priorities and supporting studies in non-primary areas of work.
  7. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to primary areas of work.
  8. Conduct routine maintenance and ensure a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
  9. Line manage laboratory team members, providing support, mentoring, and counseling as needed.
  10. Review training needs, development, and progress of staff.

Requirements
  1. Minimum A-levels or equivalent; a degree in a relevant scientific field is preferred.
  2. Supervisory experience within a laboratory, preferably working to regulatory standards such as GLP.
  3. Previous experience of staff management, including development and training, is desirable.
  4. Previous experience of Physico Chemical testing is essential.
