About the Role

Migrant Help is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Refugee Resettlement Adviser to join our team in Watford. As a key member of our Refugee Resettlement team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth transition of refugees into independent living.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored advice and support to refugees, assisting them with resettlement and integration into the community.
  • Conduct initial assessments to identify clients' needs and develop personalised support plans.
  • Assist clients with applications for housing, healthcare, education, and employment services.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and other agencies to facilitate access to essential services.
  • Conduct regular home visits and meetings with clients to monitor progress and address any emerging issues.
  • Organise and participate in community activities and events to promote social integration and community cohesion.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and records, ensuring all interactions and interventions are documented.
  • Provide emotional support and practical advice to clients, helping them navigate cultural and systemic challenges.
  • Collaborate with interpreters, volunteers, and other team members to deliver comprehensive and effective support.
  • Conduct property inspections and ensure clients' living conditions meet safety and health standards.
  • Facilitate group workshops on various topics, such as budgeting, job search skills, and understanding UK systems and culture.
Requirements
  • OISC Level 1 accreditation (or completion within 6 months of starting role)
  • Comprehensive understanding of refugee resettlement processes and the challenges faced by refugees.
  • Familiarity with UK immigration laws, housing regulations, and welfare benefits.
  • Knowledge of local community resources, support services, and relevant agencies.
  • Awareness of cultural sensitivity and competence in working with diverse populations.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care and approaches to supporting individuals who have experienced significant trauma with proficiency in safeguarding practices and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively to solve problems and address the unique challenges faced by refugees.
What We Offer
  • A competitive salary of £28,639 increasing to £32,612 following successful completion of a 6 months probation period.
