About the RoleWithin our Government Practice, our mission is to continually enhance the delivery of public services through the development of cutting-edge AI products that are used at scale by government organizations in the UK and beyond. We work on socially impactful and critical applications of AI, including building services to combat online disinformation, predict and prioritize patient flows in stretched A&E departments, and tools that detect key safety-related phrases in rail industry communications.
We pride ourselves on using the most suitable data science tools for each task, but our expertise extends to the latest Large Language Models and generative AI. As the Government matures in its AI adoption, our role is to ensure that the AI we build is deployed in products used at scale and as a critical part of public service delivery. This requires pushing the boundaries of user engagement, design skills, and robust product management in AI system development and deployment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end user-centered design process within the government services, translating findings into customer and user needs, and creating technically meaningful content to communicate with the wider team and stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the technical team to design practical solutions to pain points, creating high-quality visuals and interactions based on a strong understanding of good design principles and the Faculty brand.
- Contribute to the design vision for Faculty, encouraging and ensuring world-class design execution by helping set standards and best practices.
- Contribute to and help grow our design system.
- Experience in working with data-heavy products and data visualization.
- A creative, empathetic team player who can inspire and motivate others.
- Experience in carrying out the end-to-end design process independently, with examples of activities spanning across product and conducting user research, creating user journey maps and wireframes, prototypes, and running user testing sessions.
- A portfolio showcasing a range of projects, with examples of your design process and artefacts produced along the way.
- Examples of work where you have done discovery and research to understand a complex problem and then synthesized your findings to come up with design solutions.
- Knowledge of prototyping and design tools.
- Confidence in building and managing strong stakeholder relationships both within Faculty and with customers.
- Interest in a quantitative discipline, such as mathematics or computer science, is a plus but not essential.
