This Band 8c Healthcare Scientist Professional Lead - Pathology position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a skilled individual to shape the strategic direction of the Pathology department.

Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for making strategic decisions about the Pathology department, working closely with the Clinical Director, Pathology Manager, and Heads of Service. They will lead change and problem-solving initiatives in clinical settings, deliver operational and strategic performance, and assist the Director of Pathology in providing a comprehensive, cost-effective, and high-quality Pathology service.

This role requires a highly motivated individual with exceptional communication skills to join our leadership team. The post holder will provide leadership for healthcare scientists in pathology, quality, IT, training, and Point of Care Testing functions.

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • MSc degree or equivalent in specialty of Clinical Biochemistry
  • Fellow of Institute of Biomedical Science (FIBMS)
  • Higher Specialist at Doctorate level or Equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • HCPC Registration as Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Extensive experience in senior managerial posts at Band 8a and 8b or equivalent in an acute NHS provider or complex health care provider managing several services/departments.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading change & problem solving in clinical settings, patient care, and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of current Employment Law, Health and Safety Legislation, and requirements.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to improve service quality within limited resources.

£55,000 - £65,000 per annum.
