Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our primary care service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, evidence-based psychological therapies to adults with mild to moderate mental health problems.

You will work closely with other professionals to provide a comprehensive and integrated service, promoting recovery and social inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, low-intensity psychological therapies to individuals, carers, and groups, using evidence-based approaches such as CBT and guided self-help.
  • Assess and support people with common mental health problems, identifying areas for change and recovery, and making accurate assessments of risk to self and others.
  • Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to departmental protocols, and referring unsuitable clients to relevant services or back to the referral agent as necessary.
  • Provide a range of information and support for evidence-based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments, including guided self-help computerised CBT and information about pharmacological treatments.
  • Work closely with other members of the team to ensure appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in mental health practice. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A qualification from a PWP Training Course (Post Graduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course) or equivalent experience and qualifications.
  • Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem.
  • Demonstrated high standards in written communication, including the ability to write clear reports and letters.
  • Experience of working in primary care services.
