About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Locum Consultant to oversee the older persons' psychiatric inpatient wards at Longreach House, Redruth. This is an ideal opportunity for a skilled psychiatrist specialising in older adults and inpatient care.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in additional development activities within the Trust. Responsibilities include supervising junior doctors and physician associates, as well as undertaking managerial duties.

Main Duties

  • Clinical Management: Oversee the clinical workload within the ward areas, ensuring high standards of care and patient outcomes.
  • Education and Training: Support the education and training of junior medical staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide excellent care.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of clinical activities, contributing to the Trust's commitment to transparency and accountability.
  • Service Planning: Engage in service and business planning for both hospital and community adult services, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Appraisal and Development: Participate in annual appraisals for consultants and job plan reviews with the Medical Director, promoting personal and professional growth.
  • Management Collaboration: Work with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure the efficient running of services, sharing medical management responsibilities with consultant colleagues.
  • Policy Compliance: Adhere to the Trust's policies, procedures, and standing orders, actively contributing to the financial management of the service.
