Job Title: Building Control Surveyor

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor to join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED. As a key member of our Building Control team, you will be responsible for ensuring that building projects comply with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide pre-application advice to building professionals and non-professionals on building control matters.
  2. Conduct plan appraisals of industrial, commercial, and residential applications to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  3. Negotiate with applicants and their agents to bring about amendments or improvements to their applications.
  4. Issue building regulation approvals and rejections.
  5. Conduct site surveys to establish construction compliance with building regulations and allied legislation.
  6. Investigate site applications and provide technical support and advice to applicants and their builders.
  7. Record site inspections and plan vetting details to limit liability.
  8. Negotiate with applicants and their agents to bring about amendments or alterations to site work.
  9. Resolve contraventions of building regulations or instigate legal action where necessary.
  10. Respond to public and building professional enquiries and provide guidance on compliance.
  11. Respond to and take action on reported dangerous structures, liaising with emergency services and issuing enforcement notices as necessary.
  12. Consult with statutory authorities and other government bodies.
  13. Check complex structural, thermal, and acoustic calculations for industrial, commercial, and domestic buildings.

Requirements:

  • Experienced Building Surveyor with a strong understanding of building regulations and standards.
  • Ability to carry out plan checks and site inspections, authorizations, and completions.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., 2A, 2D, etc.).
