Special Needs Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant secondary school in Brent. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a school environment to support the delivery of engaging and effective lessons by supporting students with special educational needs.
About the RoleThis role would involve working 1 to 1 with a child with SEN, and would require someone with a basic or advanced knowledge of Makaton or BSL. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in education and a desire to inspire young people.
The responsibilities of this role include:
- Classroom Support: Assist teachers in the preparation and delivery of lessons for the learner.
- Individual and Group Support: Provide tailored support to a student with special educational needs, both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
- Resource Management: Help to organise resources, ensuring that all are prepared and available for lessons.
- Student Progress: Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to student assessments.
- Enrichment Activities: Support the development and delivery of extracurricular activities, such as clubs, workshops, and field trips.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of BSL or Makaton and be able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff. They will also have excellent organisational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
