Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Palliative Medicine Specialist to join our team at the Hospital of St Johns and St Elizabeth. The successful candidate will have clinical responsibility for patients accepted by our Wellbeing Centre and Outpatient Services, as well as providing cover for the Consultant in Palliative Medicine responsible for the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team and Hospice IPU.

The post-holder will provide leadership, support, and supervision for the medical team at the Hospital of St Johns and St Elizabeth. They will work collaboratively with all other team members and provide clinical support to the wider multi-disciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Palliative Medicine, with experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and providing clinical supervision. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team of consultants, providing specialist palliative care to patients predominantly in the hospice Wellbeing Centre and Outpatients.
  • Provide clinical cover for the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team and Hospice IPU.
  • Lead and manage the medical team at the Hospital of St Johns and St Elizabeth.
  • Work collaboratively with all other team members and provide clinical support to the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Medical Practitioner.
  • Postgraduate higher qualification in an appropriate subject (desirable).
  • Full GMC registration.
  • Entry on GMC specialist register for Palliative Medicine or CCT (due within 6 months of interview) or has a CESR.
  • Experienced accredited clinical/educational supervisor and qualified medical appraiser.
  • Experience at Consultant in Palliative Medicine level.
