Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teacher of the Deaf to join our team at Bradford Council. As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will play a vital role in supporting deaf children and their families, working closely with special school teachers, early years settings, and parents/carers to develop and implement effective approaches and provision for deaf children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support special school teachers, early years settings, and parents/carers in developing and managing approaches and provision for deaf children with additional needs.
  • Optimise outcomes for deaf children with complex needs using a thorough understanding of special school curriculum to carry out planning, assessment, teaching, training, and support for staff.
  • Provide families with balanced, unbiased support and advice to enable them to make an informed choice for their deaf children.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies involved in services to deaf children.

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Teacher of the Deaf who has a strong understanding of special school curriculum and experience of working with children who have severe and profound additional and complex needs. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
