Job Title: Garment Technologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Garment Technologist to join our team at Yours Clothing. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for implementing the technical strategy for our Outerwear and Bottoms range, working closely with the technical and buying teams to deliver high-quality products that meet our customers' expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement technical strategies for Outerwear and Bottoms products
  • Collaborate with the technical and buying teams to ensure product quality and consistency
  • Assist in the development of supplier/factory base to ensure quality, minimize returns, and increase customer satisfaction
  • Work with suppliers to deliver products that fit and flatter our customers
  • Approve graded size charts and ensure fit consistency across the range
  • Manage and develop the basic block library
  • Approve care labeling and testing requirements
  • Organize and coordinate wearer trials
  • Monitor returns and customer feedback
  • Advise on test reports and fabric suitability
  • Visit suppliers regularly to assess their capability to meet requirements
  • Maintain the supplier manual
  • Work closely with retail colleagues to ensure product quality and consistency
  • Oversee critical path management with the Buying team
  • Stay informed about relevant product safety, legislation, and standards

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification at degree or equivalent level
  • Experience in garment technology, pattern cutting, grading, and product development
  • In-depth understanding of different fabric shapes and fits
  • Adequate experience in a retailer or supplier, ideally 3 years' experience at a similar level
  • Experience working in a multiple brand retailer preferable
  • Ability to convey technical detail clearly to a layman
  • Proficient user of Microsoft and Excel
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Effective communicator, presenter, and team player
  • Ability to adopt a flexible approach and think swiftly
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritize projects
  • Proactive and keen to take on new tasks
