About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant and inclusive school in Plymouth. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional support and guidance to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with class instructors to assist students with SEN in their learning and development.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support, tailoring instruction and resources to meet each student's unique needs.
  • Encourage a welcoming and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students feel supported and valued.
  • Work closely with other experts, including educational psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to establish a comprehensive support system.
  • Implement behaviour management plans and DE-escalation tactics to promote a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, such as feeding, using the restroom, and mobility, as needed.
Requirements
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service.
  • Two professional references.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEN and a patient, empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs, providing personalized support to each student.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and stay updated with the latest SEN strategies and techniques.
