Job Description

The Validation Officer Land Systems role sits within the Exam Centre and Internal Validation (EC&IV) Department within DSEME Headquarters. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, set, and direct appropriate and effective test and assessment methods for REME land engineering systems and RAF technical training courses to provide valid, reliable, and fair evaluation of the transfer of learning against course learning objectives.
  • Ensure test and assessment materials, examination question banks, marking guides, and associated documentation are in order to maintain the validity of assessment activity against training objectives.
  • Liaise with DSEME Course Design Team staff and Training Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the collaborative production and continued relevancy of Assessment Strategies, Assessment Specifications, and assessment methods.
  • Manage data collection and evaluate data from end-of-phase training and facilitate post-course discussions with trainees to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of Training Delivery.
  • Analyse and investigate trainer/trainee feedback to highlight and escalate areas of concern as required.
  • Monitor InVal feedback questionnaire completion rates for areas of responsibility, promoting and encouraging feedback to continually improve DSEME processes and practices.
  • Conduct Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) activity to monitor the quality of assessment judgements and decisions, including invigilation monitoring, to ensure consistent and reliable judgements are made across the school and drive forward quality improvements in assessment practice.
  • Operate within required qualification frameworks to deliver regulated qualifications in accordance with set standards and quality assurance requirements.
  • Be accountable to the DSEME Head of EC&IV and direct day-to-day line management and career development of Civil Service staff working under your line management.
Requirements
  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite.
  • Technical, organisational, communicative, creative skills and abilities.
  • Adeptness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written communication, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential material and sensitive information in a professional manner.
  • A recognised apprenticeship, attaining a minimum Level 3 qualification in an engineering subject relevant to this position, or relevant alternative period of working in an electronic or mechanical environment.
