About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our Immunology team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality diagnostic services in immunology, working closely with our clinical teams to provide accurate and timely results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of immunological tests, including autoimmunity, allergy, and immunodeficiency assays
  • Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including flow cytometers and interferon gamma release assays
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless laboratory operations and high-quality patient care
  • Participate in quality control and assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Requirements
  • State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • MSc or equivalent academic achievement in a relevant field, ratified by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS)
  • Post-registration specialty training in immunology, in accordance with IBMS guidelines
  • Experience in a busy laboratory environment, with a strong understanding of laboratory quality management systems and regulatory standards
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
