Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic team in the Immunology Laboratory at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing one of the sections within Immunology, including sample workflow and prioritization, reagent ordering, and management of personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the Immunology Laboratory, ensuring efficient and effective sample processing and testing.
- Develop and implement quality management systems, including document management, IQC, and EQA procedures, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the development and validation of new assays and procedures, and participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Immunology team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
- Participate in audits, teaching, and training programs within the department to ensure continuous improvement and professional development.
- State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- MSc or equivalent academic achievement in a relevant field, ratified by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) or equivalent.
- Post-registration specialty training in accordance with IBMS guidelines.
- Significant post-registration experience in a specific laboratory discipline, with a specialized knowledge of biomedical science theory and practice in the relevant field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
