Job Summary:

The Michigan School Public Relations Association seeks a highly skilled and experienced Principal - Educational Leader to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing leadership, vision, and direction to our educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of our educational programs, including summer school.
  • Lead in areas of diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion to create an equitable and welcoming learning experience for all students.
  • Represent our organization in hybrid and online learning related matters at the local, state, and national level.
  • Collaborate with our Assistant Superintendent of Career and Talent Development in areas of staffing, financial management, and program development/prioritization.
  • Monitor budgets, seek funds, supervise professional and classified staff, and provide opportunities for continuous learning to improve training and consultative skills.
  • Participate in local, regional, state, and national meetings as assigned.
  • Provide leadership and advocacy in areas of quality hybrid and online learning as requested by our Assistant Superintendent of Career and Talent Development.
  • Support the development of technological applications to enhance our educational programs.
  • Gather and analyze data to determine trends in credit recovery, online learning, and other digital learning opportunities.
  • Oversee our Kent ISD Summer School Program.
  • Function as the Administrator supporting students in need of embedded credit from other Kent ISD Secondary Programs.
  • Support periodic program supervision in other Secondary Programs, such as KCTC or KIH, when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience at the secondary level strongly preferred.
  • Valid Michigan school administrator certificate, or commitment to enroll in an approved program with six months and obtain administrator certification within three years.
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field of study strongly preferred.
  • School administrator experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively implement Online/Blended/Hybrid Digital Learning Models.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Digital Learning, Competency Based Learning, and technology integration.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of standards-based education.
  • Collaborative leadership and teambuilding skills.
  • Demonstrated competencies in staff supervision and evaluation.
  • Evidence of positive community relationship skills.
  • Commitment to fostering and maintaining partnerships and community support.
  • Commitment to the inclusion and achievement of all students.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation and ability to successfully complete tasks as assigned.
