An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Dental Nurse to contribute to the delivery of high-quality dental care at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleWe are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to assist in the provision of urgent and routine dental care. The successful candidate will be a qualified dental nurse with a good standard of education and the ability to work well within a team.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate effectively with dental service staff, service users, and health professionals on a daily basis.
- Provide oral health information and advice to service users and their families.
- Assist clinicians during treatment, anticipating the needs of both the clinician and the service user.
- Act as a chaperone during procedures.
- Supervise service users undergoing general anesthesia, in collaboration with anaesthetic staff, and provide pre- and post-operative advice.
- Prepare surgery and clinical equipment for procedures.
- Arrange instruments, medicaments, and materials for clinical use, handling fine instruments and manipulating them during procedures.
- Assemble and dismantle specialized equipment, following aseptic non-touch technique, and maintain equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations.
- Decontaminate dental units and water bottles, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
- Verify service users' details and advise clinicians of any relevant circumstances.
- Record dental charting electronically or on paper.
- Participate in clinical and non-clinical audits as required.
