We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Infrastructure Engineer to join our Estates and Operations Facilities Management team at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. As a Controlling Authorised Person, you will be responsible for the safe and effective operation and control of mechanical distribution systems and their associated assets across three STFC sites.
Your daily duties will include:
- Assessing and appointing staff and contractors as skilled or competent persons to work on mechanical systems.
- Isolating high-risk systems.
- Assisting with insurance inspections and supporting senior mechanical staff.
- Administering documentation for inspections and audits, including permits, notices, and written schemes.
- Ensuring actions from inspections are available for internal and external audit.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience working as an Authorised Person Mechanical and Pressure Systems (AP Mechanical BPS) and as a BOAS certified industrial boiler operator. You will also have a formal indentured apprenticeship in a related discipline and be registered with a professional institution as an Incorporated Engineer or Engineering Technician, or be willing to work toward this accreditation.
