About the Role

The UK Dementia Research Institute is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join Professor Jernje Ule's research group. The group focuses on transcriptomic approaches to study RNP assembly and its defects in disease. As a Research Assistant, you will contribute to the project by studying RNA condensates that contribute to the regulation of gene expression. Your responsibilities will include designing and performing experiments, developing technical advances, and performing data analysis. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with a broad range of other scientists across the UK DRI.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Molecular Biology or a related discipline, with experience in molecular biology and transcriptomics. Advanced experience in cell biology, neuronal differentiation, and advanced imaging is also required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, are essential. Experience with computational analyses of transcriptomic, proteomic, and/or imaging data is also desirable.

This is a fixed-term contract for 1 year, and the salary will be Grade 5, spine point 30. The role meets the requirements of the Home Office, and sponsorship for candidates who require the right to work in the UK is available.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and perform experiments to study RNA condensates and their role in gene expression regulation
* Develop technical advances in transcriptomics and proteomics
* Perform data analysis and interpretation
* Present results and write up manuscripts for peer-review journals

Requirements

* PhD in Molecular Biology or a related discipline
* Experience in molecular biology and transcriptomics
* Advanced experience in cell biology, neuronal differentiation, and advanced imaging
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
