Electrical Automation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer to join our team at Omega Leeds. As a key member of our electrical reliability team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of our FMCG process and manufacturing lines.
Your primary focus will be on providing high-level engineering technical expertise to maximize productivity and achievement of targets in a high-speed production environment. You will also be responsible for providing breakdown support in the event of equipment failure, ensuring the plant operates at agreed efficiency levels, and optimizing automation as required.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will be expected to provide technical advice and guidance on electrical standards for maintenance improvement, manage improvements in electrical maintenance strategy, and coordinate electrical asset care improvement programmes.
As an Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including automation Capex projects, and will be responsible for ensuring all sites have the required software programs, licenses, and connections.
We are looking for an individual with a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in automation and PLC development. You should have a minimum of 5 years' experience working hands-on in automation and knowledge/experience in automated warehouse environments.

Key Responsibilities- Provide high-level engineering technical expertise to maximize productivity and achievement of targets in a high-speed production environment.
- Provide breakdown support in the event of equipment failure to maintain world-class production standards.
- Ensure the plant operates at agreed efficiency levels, optimizing automation as required.
- Provide technical advice and guidance on electrical standards for maintenance improvement.
- Manage improvements in electrical maintenance strategy and coordinate electrical asset care improvement programmes.
- Provide reactive support for site automation issues within a clear escalation process.
- Oversee automation Capex projects.
- Ensure all sites have the required software programs, licenses, and connections.
- Provide specialist software/automation troubleshooting support.
- Apprentice trained or graduate engineer in an electrical discipline with electrical qualification.
- Emphasis on Automation experience; electrically biased with PLC skills.
- Background in Electrical Engineering with PLC and OEM, SCADA preferred.
- Experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments including Food, FMCG process, or General Manufacturing.
- Trained to an Electrical minimum craft level.
- Knowledge of electrical systems.
- HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years working hands-on in automation and knowledge/experience in automated warehouse environments.
