We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Automation Engineer to join our Cargo and Vehicle Inspection team at Rapiscan Systems. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and maintenance of electrical drawings and PLC/HMI code on CVI x-ray scanning equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Development
- Interpret specifications and customer requirements from Sales, Project Managers, and Engineering Management.
- Produce technical documentation to support designs.
- Create electrical schematics and 3D panel layouts using Eplan P8 and Pro Panel.
- Export Bill of Materials (BoM) data for electrical hardware.
- PLC and HMI Programming
- Create PLC code using Studio5000 & CoDeSys in line with the system architecture.
- Design HMI screens to match the system's requirements.
- Quality and Safety
- Work within the company quality and safety procedures.
- Provide technical support through production and commissioning.
- Service and Support
- Provide service support and action Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) allocated.
- Visit sites as required.
- Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical control systems, including PLC controllers.
- Flexibility to respond to changing business needs.
- Willingness to travel with good presentation skills.
- Great time management skills.
- Able to work as part of a team and individually.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Presentation, Teams & Word).
- Desirable Skills
- Experience in using CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Eplan, or Solidworks Electrical.
- Experience in PLC programming platforms such as Studio5000 or CoDeSys.
- Experience programming VFD/Servo Drives within Rockwell environments.
- Experience in a relevant field of work.
- HNC in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field of study.
- Desired Qualifications
- BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field of study.
- Experience in this field of work.
