About the RoleThis is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Maths professional to lead a talented team of teachers in supporting children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
As the Maths Department Leader, you will be responsible for shaping students' academic progress while working to raise their self-esteem and confidence. You will plan and deliver engaging, accessible Maths lessons that cater to students with ASD and SEMH, ensuring they reach their full potential.
Main Responsibilities:- Lead and develop the Maths department, guaranteeing high-quality, tailored lessons for students with diverse additional needs.
- Plan and deliver inspiring Maths lessons that support students with ASD and SEMH, leveraging your expertise to make learning enjoyable and inclusive.
- Monitor student progress, set individual goals, and celebrate achievements, no matter how small, fostering a growth mindset among students.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of teachers, teaching assistants, and therapists to ensure holistic support for students, breaking down barriers to success.
- Guide and mentor a team of teaching staff, providing support and professional development opportunities to help them thrive.
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student growth, resilience, and confidence, setting the stage for lifelong learning.
- Coordinate the Maths curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of students with additional learning needs, driving academic excellence.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong Maths background, underpinning your subject knowledge and pedagogical expertise.
- Experience working with students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SEMH needs, or other additional learning needs, demonstrating your adaptability and passion for inclusion.
- Strong leadership skills, inspiring and developing your team to achieve excellence, making a lasting impact on student outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, facilitating collaboration with parents, external agencies, and professionals, ensuring seamless support for students.
- A positive, resilient, and student-centred approach to teaching, prioritising student well-being and academic success.
