Job Title: Catering Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team at an established College in Oxford City Centre.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work as part of the Hall team to provide exceptional levels of service to our customers, including Fellows, students, staff, and conference delegates. The role will involve working on a rota basis, overseeing the running of the salad bar, and maintaining adequate food levels. The Catering Assistant will also be responsible for clearing away unused food, assisting with food preparation and hygiene, and ensuring that the required standards of cleanliness are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of the Servery prior to meals and clean the Servery after meals
  • Lay out food for the self-service lunchtime salad bar and ensure adequate crockery and cutlery are available
  • Assist the Duty Chef with the preparation of buffet food for staff lunches and assist with food preparation in the afternoon
  • Plate up meals as required for the Night Porters and place these meals in the 'SCAF' fridge(s) for collection at night
  • Assist in clearing away the plate trolleys during and after meal service and assist with the cleaning of tables in Hall after meal service
  • Regularly wash and sanitise the wash-up tables on either side of the glass wash machine and regularly clean fridges, shelves, sinks, and the ice machine in the Servery
  • Take the dirty laundry from the Hall and Kitchen to the Linen Room and make coffee and clean, rinse, and/or de-scale the coffee machine as appropriate
Requirements:

We are looking for a motivated and organized individual who is able to work well in a team environment. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times. Experience in a similar role would be advantageous, but full training will be provided.
