Project Engineer Job Description

OHEAP Fire & Security is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and high-quality delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commissioning fire detection and alarm systems, adhering to project requirements.
  • Maintaining communication with project managers to ensure project delivery.
  • Executing works at customer premises, adhering to quality standards.
  • Communicating with customers to ensure understanding of system and site status.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to allocated engineers.
  • Coordinating with administrators to ensure commitments are met.
  • Ensuring timely completion of company paperwork and allocated engineers' paperwork.
  • Reviewing cause-and-effect matrix and implementing programming accordingly.
  • Collaborating with the Line Manager to ensure smooth operation of the Engineering Department.
  • Demonstrating cause-and-effect programming to clients and line managers.
  • Planning own work and executing minor additions to existing installations.
  • Managing and securing own equipment stock efficiently.
  • Operating in accordance with the Company Handbook and quality standards.
  • Passing on potential leads for further business to the relevant Sales Manager.
  • Discussing system improvement suggestions with the Line Manager.
  • Attending training sessions identified by the Company.
Accountability:
  • Leaving customers with a fully functioning fire detection and alarm system.
  • Completing documentation within agreed time limits.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction with the work.
Key Competencies:
  • Hold qualifications of the understanding of BS5839.
  • Time served qualified electrician or an understanding of the IET wiring regulations to BS7671 to 18th edition.
  • Proficient in commissioning a fire detection and alarm system in line with manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Ensuring installed drawings match the finished project and communicating any variances.
  • Fully testing every aspect of the installed system in line with manufacturers' recommendations and project specifications.
  • Identifying and testing cable associated with fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Developing and diagnosing cause-and-effect software for control equipment.
  • Operating all required test equipment.
  • Demonstrating a logical approach to system fault diagnosis and rectification.
  • Understanding different types of cable containment systems.
  • Interacting professionally with customers, end-users, and in-house staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of bespoke manufacturers' Software programmes and Windows-based Systems.
