Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Director, Bioethics, R&D Bioethics to provide strategic thought leadership on the development of Bioethics positions and recommendations for areas impacting R&D strategy and delivery. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on global, regional, and country levels to build and implement applied Bioethics knowledge and capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for GSK's Global Bioethics program, executing on the overall strategic direction and creating structured mechanisms to address emerging bioethics issues and challenges.
  • Manage the GSK Bioethics forums and Council, comprised of internal leaders and external ethics experts, to provide advice on key bioethics topics.
  • Drive discussions and collaborations with business partners to develop fair and robust positions on R&D issues and ethical dilemmas.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with senior leaders in R&D, Compliance, Legal, and CPO organization, globally and in the regions/countries, to ensure Bioethics decision-making is understood and applied consistently.
  • Provide input and guidance on operational and communications strategies to support effective implementation and embedding a Bioethics mindset in R&D.
  • Advise teams and senior leaders on complex global bioethics topics and bridge bioethics with technology ethics.
  • Represent OCMO and the CMO on Tech-related councils and forums and drive the advancement of bioethics.
  • Serve as a mentor and guardian of the Bioethics Ambassadors network and provide development opportunities for emerging bioethics leaders.
  • Assess the ethical implications of R&D procedures and practices and seek to mitigate concerns with sound moral and ethical principles.
Requirements

We are looking for professionals with the following qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Bioethics or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in Bioethics, with a strong understanding of R&D environment, policies, and procedures.
  • Industry experience in Compliance, Governance, or Legal background is a plus.
